Your 36-hour confirmation window

Edited

Once a buyer submits a purchase request for your item, you have 36 hours to confirm the sale. This is the single most important window in the selling process — missing it means losing the sale and disappointing the buyer.

Why this window exists

When a buyer submits a purchase request, we authorize their payment and let them know you'll confirm shortly. From that moment, they stop looking for the piece elsewhere — they're counting on you.

The 36-hour window keeps that promise honest: it's enough time for you to check your schedule and confirm the item is still available, without leaving the buyer waiting indefinitely.

What happens when you confirm

  • The sale is locked in and the buyer's payment moves from authorized to charged.

  • You'll be prompted to schedule pickup or delivery.

  • Your item's status updates to 'Sold' and it comes off the marketplace.

What happens if you don't confirm in time

If 36 hours pass without a confirmation, the purchase request expires automatically.

The buyer's payment authorization is released, they're notified the item is no longer available, and your listing goes back on the market. There's no way to reinstate an expired purchase request — the buyer will need to submit a new one, if they're still interested.

How to confirm

  1. Go to your Sales tab from your account dashboard.

  2. Find the pending purchase request and select Confirm sale.

  3. You'll then be prompted to choose your desired pickup date.

Make sure you never miss the window!

  • Turn on email and SMS notifications so you're alerted the moment a purchase request comes in.

  • Check your dashboard daily while your listings are live, especially for high-demand items.

  • Only list items you're genuinely ready to sell — if it's already sold elsewhere or no longer available, remove the listing promptly rather than letting a request come in you can't confirm.

If the item is no longer available

If you can no longer fulfill a purchase request — the item sold elsewhere, was damaged, etc. — don't just let the window lapse. See “What happens if I decline a purchase request?” for how to handle it properly and keep your seller standing in good shape.
